Whilst many skin treatments that are used for the same skin conditions require a patient to take a day off work due to post-treatment side effects, microdermabrasion allows busy people to continue with their day with limited disruption.

Not to be confused with dermabrasion; an outdated and far more aggressive procedure, often requiring a local anaesthetic, microdermabrasion treatment is a gentle and effective form of exfoliation. Generally taking no longer than thirty to forty minutes, depending on the body area, microdermabrasion is performed with a diamond covered applicator tip, which passes over the skin, with a slight suction creating a gentle vacuum.

You may not realise but there is help out there if you are uncomfortable with the appearance of your skin.  Pigmented lesions such as flat moles, birthmarks and naevi tend to be darker in colour than your normal skin as the melanin is more highly concentrated in this area.  Whilst most people will accept a few minor lesions, others will be blighted more by more unsightly discolouration and want to do something about it in order to feel more confident in their appearance.

At Estetica we offer laser treatment for pigmented lesions which will target the skin imperfections, killing the cells and leaving the surrounding skin untouched.  The results will of course depend upon the depth and colour of the lesions and also the number of treatments you require however even if lesions do not completely disappear, laser treatment will almost certainly make them appear much lighter in colour.

picture of legsWith summer upon us, many people are ready to spend a week or fortnight on the beach. As a result, many females like to wear less make up and less clothes. One of the major concerns, of doing this, however, is that less facial gloss and fewer clothes can expose thread veins.

What are thread veins?

Thread veins are red and purple blood vessels that occur in patches on the legs and face.

Why do they occur?

We do not know exactly why some people get thread veins. They often occur in women so they may be related to the hormone oestrogen. In some people they appear at the site of previous operations or insect bites.

At Estetica we have been fortunate enough to notice an increase in both awareness and demand for our cosmetic treatments.  This has now been verified by recent studies which demonstrate that there has been a noticeable growth in women wanting to hold back the aging process through the use of Botox injections.

Surprisingly it is women in their twenties who are increasingly being drawn to these preventative wrinkle injections with the number of users growing by 10% in just one year according to one study carried out recently.
