News & stories relating to our dental & cosmetic treatments.

Picture of faceMany people rarely use the term pigmented lesion. We prefer to use the more common names – a flat mole, birthmark, freckles or sun spots. However, we may know these common terms but how many people understand what causes them or whether they can be treated.

A pigmented lesion is caused by an excess of melanin in certain skin cells (melanin is the substance that gives skin its colour). Some diseases and infections can also cause pigmentation of the skin. So, if you have any concerns about an imperfection on your skin and have so far refused to share your concern with anyone, why not take the plunge and see what can be done about it.

Taking care of your mind and body should be your top priority. Keeping fit and active, eating a healthy diet, and enjoying life are all important things you can do to help take good care of yourself. Many people also find undertaking treatments for relaxation to be beneficial and make this a part of a regular maintenance regime too.

Massage is perhaps one of the best relaxation treatments. Here at Estetica we have a wide range of massage treatments to offer you. Our massage expert will be able to advise you which type is most suited to your needs. An aromatherapy massage for example, is a deeply relaxing, hour long session covering your full body, head and scalp which will detoxify and de stress. A shorter, upper body de stress treatment will invigorate you, concentrating on your neck and shoulders, where many of us hold tension.

Most of us wouldn’t say no to looking younger but whilst we cannot turn back the hands of time there are a number of both surgical and non-surgical treatments which can help to  make us appear younger.  One of the areas that women tend to focus on first is the lips as these may lose definition and appear thinner as we get older.

Our lip fillers are a simple procedure that can plump up the lips and create greater definition around the ‘cupid’s bow’ area of the top lip.  The procedure can be finished in as little as 30 minutes and most patients will find that the effects last for around 6 months, after which the treatment can then be repeated if desired.

Acne TreatmentsFor those people who suffer from acne, they may experience scarring and redness on their face, neck and perhaps shoulders.  There are some effective acne treatments Surrey which can help to not only improve the symptoms of acne but can also treat the scars which are often left by acne.  Cosmetic acne treatments can include chemical peels, using a Dermaroller as well as a treatment called Obagi© Nu Derm™, which is a skin restoration system.

This latest system works by improving circulation to the skin as well as regulating cell turnover in the deep layers of the skin.  This can generate the production of elastic and collagen which can help skin to become firmer.  The treatment is split into four stages, but by the end of the final phase it is said that acne can be minimised and the overall appearance of the skin is much improved.
