If you’re in need of the best white fillings Surrey has to offer, you might be dwelling on what’s lead you to need a little of this cosmetic dentistry. It may be down to not caring for teeth properly, however, more often than not, it can be diet related.

That doesn’t just apply to those of us whose teeth are victims of long-term soft drink abuse, but also one off incident involving a particularly tough snack ilke hard boiled sweets and fudge.

According to top dentists, this one snack in particular is causing a big problem for the dentist’s waiting room, as the number of incidents involving popcorn are up from 5 per cent to 10 per cent in the last few years, reports The Sun.

Us Brits are eating twice as much popcorn as the rest of Europe, and it’s meant that sales of crisps have fallen to an all time low, however, it can cause serious problems for our dental health.

Not only can un-popped kernels chip and damage teeth, small pieces can get lodged in between teeth and shards lodged in gums, leading to inflammation and an increased chance of gum decay and tooth loss.

Megan Hare, cracked a tooth after biting down on a hard kernel, and told the Sunday Telegraph: "It was extremely embarrassing at the time as I was working as a full-time healthcare assistant in a busy pharmacy, which involved talking to customers all day.”

Tyrrells, who sell a range of so-called ‘poshcorn’, say that their snack goes through a special process to reduce the amount of unpopped kernels as possible before it reaches the customer.
